John Cena tears up on learning how slogan on wrist band he gave to young fan helped him through his mother’s cancer diagnosis

Celebrities often have their principles, morals and lifestyles attached to them. Fans, having a great love and support for them, are delighted to pick up on these habits and values. How wonderful would it be if it had an unforgettable outcome? WWE wrestler and actor John Cena had this effect on a young boy, Tyler. In a collaboration with Cricket Wireless, the athlete sat to read messages shared by fans. The clip was reshared by Joseph Rodriguez Jr. on YouTube. Among the interactions was Tyler’s moving story. He had received a wristband with Cena’s popular slogan. It helped him through his mother’s cancer diagnosis and when the wrestler learned about it, he was moved to tears.

The video consisted of several messages from dedicated fans, expressing how Cena’s resilient and committed spirit pushed them to get through the hurdles of life. Both young and old fans shared how decades of their lives have revolved around the wrestler. His positive outlook on life changed them over the years and they were nothing but grateful. When it came to Tyler’s message, Cena was shown a video of the young boy sharing his story. He mentioned that his mother had received her cancer diagnosis results. “When I asked her what her results were… she said it was positive, the boy recalled while fighting back tears.

He admitted being shocked and worried at first. However, Tyler went back to the time he received a wristband from the wrestler at an event. As he stood in the crowd, with his hand out, Cena handed the wristband to him. The little fan cherished it, not knowing how instrumental it would be in getting him and his family through a tedious time. “John Cena’s message helped my family,” he said. He noted how he gave his mother the small thing before she went into her six-hour surgery. The message on that band left an impact more powerful than one could ever know. It was a simple slogan the wrestler used throughout — “Never give up.”

It became Tyler's, his mom's and his family’s strength when they needed it most. Tyler’s mom is cancer-free but he can never forget how those simple three words helped his little heart to push through and find resilient strength. Cena was in tears as he listened to his little fan’s words. What was once a motto to keep him going through matches became a pillar of support, comfort and strength to so many. “That’s pretty cool. At a young age, he has such a great perspective,” the wrestler said, with a bittersweet smile.
While Cena was still trying to hold back tears, Tyler tore through the backdrop and surprised him in person. The popular way Cena himself would use to surprise fans left him speechless. He got up and gave Tyler a tight hug, both breaking down in tears, witnessing the power of resilient love. Tyler’s mom, too, came with the very same wristband Tyler received and showed it to the wrestler. “He [Tyler] used to keep telling me, ‘Mom, Cena says never give up.’” The fans continued to come out and thank the wrestler in person. If you are a role model, be sure to be one that makes a difference, like Cena did.
