Journalist was too late to stop dynamite being thrown into his yard—but his dog's heroic act averted disaster

A dog’s loyalty can sometimes be one of the fiercest forms of love out there. They are known to be vigilant when it comes to their pet parents and even risk their lives to protect them. A Peruvian journalist, Carlos Alberto Mesias Zarate, was stunned to see his 25-pound dog, Manchis, risk her life for him, reported NBC News. Zarate witnessed a dynamite attack when he was at home and was unable to escape or destroy it in time. However, his pet dog bravely took the brunt of the attack and ensured she saved the journalist and his family, per The New York Post.

The reporter noted that the nature of his work does call for hatred and negative feelings towards him, due to which the attack may have been planned. One day a dynamite was thrown into his yard. The canine noticed and immediately rushed towards it and bravely tried to get rid of it. She started moving it around with her paws and mouth. While she diverted the attack on the reporter and his family, she suffered serious damage from it. Zarate immediately called the police, who later informed him that the dynamite was the same kind used in landmines. Due to the attack, Manich’s vocals were damaged and her barks can no longer be heard.

Zarate is ever grateful for his canine who risked herself to stop and minimize the attack on her family. “She chewed it and chewed and saved our lives,” the reporter said. While he credits her for saving him, the reporter is also worried about her health and future protection. The police are investigating the incident and have suspects so far. Several people commented, commending the canine for her service and loyalty like no other. @GarageShaman said, “That dog knew exactly what was going on.” @TellyMan200 added, “The dog is a hero and true lifesaver.” @gwencalvin6733 remarked, “A heroic dog! He's a keeper for sure.”

@Montaph added, “At the end of the day, the dog saw something it didn't like and destroyed it. Kind of amazing instinct.” A TikTok page @super_manchis has been created to recognize and commend the dog for her bravery. Moreover, they are now vouching for her protection and recovery and have deemed her a hero after the brave defense. A video revealing glimpses of her courage circulating on the internet has garnered over 34,000 views and 400 comments. @luceritoo1092789666 said, “Please don’t leave her out, they might retaliate.” @melisour26 remarked, “For those that say animals don’t think or act, there’s the great Manchis.”
In a similar instance of dogs coming to the rescue of their owners, a couple, Izabeau Pearston and Elijah Jackson, were saved thanks to their dog, Willow, Tri-City Herald reported. The dog was repeatedly barking, thus waking the duo up. While they initially thought nothing was wrong, they spotted flames outside their window. Their apartment on Cleveland Street, England, was on fire and the pet parents woke up just in time to escape. “My boyfriend told me to get the rope, then tied off the rope on the bed and rappelled down,” Pearston recalled. Though they lost a lot, the duo was able to escape along with their dog and are eternally grateful for her life-saving caution.
