Man went on just ‘one date’ with single mom so it wouldn't be rude — the actual turn of events left them both surprised

The man had no intentions to take the relationship forward since he wasn't ready to be a parent, but things worked out beautifully.

Many of life’s finest wins, memories, and experiences come from taking a chance on something unexpected. Maybe you got that dog, applied for that job, or even went on that date. Something similar happened to Chelsie (@lifewiththedorts) and Bedford Dort, per PEOPLE. The man decided to go on a date with the then-single mom “just to be nice.” Little did he know it would completely change the trajectory of both of their lives—for the better! What started as an impromptu and unexpected trial turned out to be a blessing, and it’s the meet-cute the internet is in love with

In a video shared by Chelsie, it was stated that Bedford was ready to go on a date with her, but it was just out of courtesy. He had no intentions to take things forward because he “wasn’t ready to have a kid.” For the then single mom, this was no news. She had come across several men she liked, but none of them stuck through after learning she had a 2-year-old, Ryker. When the date between Bedford and Chelsie was set, the man didn’t know she was a mom until it was way too late to cancel.

"He said he had told his friends that he had set up a date with me and then realized I was a single mom and didn't want to be rude, so he was taking me out still but had no plans on continuing the relationship,” she mentioned. The mom had no idea about it and gave it her best. To their surprise, things seemed to work out for them—way too well. It wasn’t until just before their engagement that Bedford revealed the truth to Cheslie. By then, they were well-intertwined. After eight months of seeing each other, they decided to marry. “My husband took the pages out of a book, made his own pages with pictures of when we met and our story from the beginning. He read it to me, and my son, and the ring was in a hole in the back of the book,” the woman explained.

12 years on, the couple is happily married and with five kids—Ryker, 11, Naomi, 6, Mya, 8, and twins Jax and Sloane, 4. As for Ryker, he enjoys being the oldest and has been getting along perfectly well with his new dad. The journey had its ups and downs, but this duo’s unpredictably fierce love made it work. "It hasn't always been easy, but we love each other, and we're dedicated to figuring it out." What began as something doubtful and awkward is now their strength and story. They have been proudly flaunting their meet-cute to let the world know that it’s okay to be unsure, but never back down without giving things a shot.

In one of her videos, Cheslie mentioned, “In your 20s, you're going to get asked out on a date that you don’t think will go anywhere because you promised yourself you would never fall in love again, so you couldn’t get hurt. It’s very important that you go on that date.” Her caption read, “It was worth another shot at loving and trusting someone like this and being loved as I've never been loved before.” @gothgirlpunk wrote, "He knew he needed you as much as you needed him. You made him happy, and the same with you; you completed each other in ways that you both never felt before." @ochan319 added, "Never say 'Never!' The Universe has other plans." "You have such a beautiful family," penned @maryannsingleton5.
