Mom caught 10-year-old daughter spraying perfume on toddler brother’s clothes — she got emotional hearing why

Children often have reasons for doing some of the most random things they do. Often, these explanations are creative or well-thought-out strategies that their brilliant minds can figure out. A mom named Kayla Denise Braud (@okay.braud) revealed that her 10-year-old daughter, Aveline, started spraying perfume on her toddler brother’s clothing, per Newsweek. 4-year-old Atlas goes to school smelling great but the mom was wondering why her daughter was so determined to spray his clothes. The 10-year-old gave away her reason in a single statement and it has us bawling with tears of awe.

Speaking of why the act came as more of a curiosity to her, Braud noted that her daughter is “generally not openly affectionate.” She’s still figuring out emotions and has a hard time understanding why people get overwhelmed when they're emotional. "If she's feeling sad or stressed, she just tells me she's going to go to her room and listen to sad music so she can cry. She tells me so I don't worry and interrupt," the mom recalled. Being so straightforward and composed, it was a natural question why she chose to spray her little brother’s clothing out of the blue. She confronted her daughter, only to receive the most adorable response.

"When he's stressed out, he likes to smell your shirt and since you aren't at school with him, I wanted him to have a way to not be stressed out,” Aveline said. Braud was taken aback by the thoughtfulness. She mentioned how her son can be “wildly emotional.” “He's always loud, always excited, always so much energy; and when he's sad, he's really deeply sad,” she explained. The 10-year-old observantly noted how the boy would get sad on some days at school and how his mum's presence calmed him down, and came up with the plan. She would secretly go into the room where Atlas’ clothes were laid and spray a little bit of the perfume.

"I wasn't shocked because I know how much she loves him," Braud said. What took her by surprise was that her daughter carried out the sweet gesture in secret. “Not only was she smart enough to recognize that [it would] help him, she did it in such a way that no one knew about it because she didn't want the praise,” the mom said. “I’m so good at making people,” the proud mom remarked. Aveline has an impressive personality and she displayed that in a perfect blend through her act and another remark.

When the mom asked if she was okay with sharing her act on the internet, the girl replied, "Make sure that they know that I'm only sweet when I want to be sweet, okay? They can't just expect me to be nice all the time." People are in awe of the inner beauty the 10-year-old is developing. @pamela_devault said, “That is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever heard!! Great job, momma!” @arroyoandersonmary added, “My heart is melting for that child. Such discernment at such a young age, surely God will use her in mighty ways.” @aussiered72 wrote, “That right there is a beautiful human being! Be very proud, momma.”
