Mom-of-3 was hauling a 1,000-gallon tank when her truck gave out with a ‘boom’. Then a father-son duo turned up to help — with duct tape
It might feel like a miracle to find exactly who you need in a difficult situation. A mom had that privilege while she was driving with a 1000-gallon sealcoat tank along with her three daughters and her truck gave out. She heard a loud sound and smoke came out of the vehicle. The woman was stuck and all ways of getting help had turned out to be futile. That's when a father and son turned up to help and ensure that she was safe, per East Idaho News.
The woman and her husband owned an asphalt maintenance company. She also drove her husband's truck and trailer with a heavy sealcoat tank from the suppliers many times. The mom was driving to the suppliers with her three daughters back in August in the same way. She had to wait there for three hours and was late getting back home. So the family stopped for dinner on the way. That's when a really frightening situation took place, according to the mom's letter to the outlet. "I was headed up Malad Pass when I heard the loudest boom and my husband’s truck hood popped up like there had been an explosion and black exhaust went everywhere," the woman wrote. She took her daughters to a safe spot and called for "roadside assistance" immediately.
Unfortunately, roadside assistance couldn't help her at that time and could only tow one out of the truck or the trailer. That wasn't a feasible option for the woman. "I was getting more frustrated by the second, speaking with roadside assistance, when a kind guy pulled up and asked if I needed any help." She told the man, "Well, I think I blew the turbo boot on my husband's truck." The man, Casey, was traveling with his son, Roper. He revealed that he had just fixed something like that and could do the same kind of repair for her as well. He checked the truck and asked for duct tape and a 12mm socket. The mom found both of those things in her husband's toolbox.
"He got that boot off and wrapped it with duct tape so well. I swear he is MacGyver undercover." The man pointed out that the tape might not hold until Shelley, where the woman was supposed to go. So he followed her to Downey with his son. "Casey and Roper followed me to Downey so that I could coast down the old Highway and avoid any danger down Malad Pass." She added, "He gave me his phone number and told me to call him if anything came up or if I needed help and he would come right away." He also called multiple shops for spare parts on the way. Casey gave her some advice that helped her reach home safely. The mom thanked the two of them and offered to pay, but they refused any form of payment.
The father and son were recognized by the outlet through their "Feel Good Friday" program. People applauded the duo in the comments section of the video. @elsafourie8142 wrote, "What a heartwarming story! So glad this lady shared it and that this young man will be inspired to keep on doing good. He obviously has a great example in his dad." @PrimetimeKCL commented, "Wow, amazing young man and dad! These kinds of people give the rest of us hope in humanity despite all of the horrible people out there!" @janicecanfield911 remarked, "We can all hope that when in need, someone is a MacGyver. Great story."
