You can never be too safe, especially when you’re still warming up to a new neighborhood. A TikTok user who goes by @spencershay75 shared one such terrifying incident from 2022. In the clip posted on July 23, 2026, she recalled how she had just moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and would go on late-night walks in the area. Over time, a neighbor befriended her, and she chose to keep things formal and maintain her distance. One night, however, things took an unexpected turn when he drove past her three times, asking if she needed a ride. Worried sick, she called 911, and later saw something that confirmed her worst fears.

The new resident met a neighbor who made small talk. She spoke to him once and decided to keep her distance because it felt odd. Months later, when she was on her walk, the man approached her in his car, asking if she needed a ride. She politely declined, to which he said, “Be careful, there’s weirdos out there.” His words left her a little worried, and she decided to cut her trip short and head home. On the way, the man appeared two more times, offering a ride again and reiterating that there were “weirdos” around. She quickly called 911. In the meantime, she noticed the car pull over into a parking lot beside a white van. She instantly recalled the white van because it kept appearing during her walks.
Soon, she began connecting all the dots. When she had initially moved to the neighborhood, she realized someone was driving slowly past her on purpose, as if they were trying to observe her intently. Though afraid, she thought she was overthinking. Later, she noticed the van would pull out of the parking space every time she passed it. Then came the creepy neighbor. When she saw the car and the van together, she realized there was likely a joint effort to cause her harm. The fact that both vehicles had been following her for months only made it weirder. Luckily, that night, after she called the cops, the man figured she had called for help and fled.
The officers drove her home after taking her statement. The resident couldn’t help but wonder how she’d brushed off the warning signs and never realized the van was suspicious. She realized that this guy had an accomplice who was in the white van before adding that it was likely a kidnapping attempt. She noted that because she played it cool and called for help, the duo couldn’t corner her. Awareness is crucial, and it doesn’t matter whether it's broad daylight or late at night. In another story, a shopper revealed how she outsmarted a suspicious man. After noticing him around her thrice within a span of minutes, she was on alert.
When she saw him a fourth time in the checkout lane beside her, she contacted the manager and security. When they found the man lurking around in the parking lot, they took down his car details. She did not leave until she felt sure the man was no longer around. The shopper cautioned fellow women that the place, hour, or any other factor doesn’t matter — vigilance should be a priority, every time and everywhere.
