The way parents treat each other often becomes a child’s first lesson about relationships. TikTok user Rachel Lasater (@rachellasa_) and her husband were trying to demonstrate some baseball drills to their son when they began laughing over something. However, their child's one innocent question about them moved them to tears. The adorable video, shared on TikTok on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, touched many internet users after the kid asked a heartfelt question about his parents' relationship.

In response to my sons question at the very end…the answer is yes absolutely!🥹❤️

The couple wanted to teach their son how to catch during a baseball drill. In the video, the parents were seen throwing the baseball in front of their car. As the parents try to demonstrate, they begin cackling at their moves. The dad can be seen yelling like baseball players, which makes the wife giggle. Their son, who watched his parents laugh and giggle at each other, tells them, "Dad, that looks like your true friendship." He repeats by asking, "Dad, is that true friendship?"

The son's question moved the parents, who captioned the video, "In response to my son's question at the very end…the answer is yes, absolutely." While it may seem like an innocent question to the parents, it holds a powerful meaning for the child. Children must grow up in a home where they witness genuine love and respect between their parents. This shapes their understanding of healthy relationships. When kids watch their parents engage in healthy communication and openly show affection, it becomes a blueprint for the child to carry into their own life.

However, some parents fail to realize this aspect, which can negatively impact a child's worldview. Children need to see love at home so they can use it as a standard by which they define relationships in the future. By watching his parents giggle and laugh together, the young boy was witnessing a healthy relationship that reflected the true meaning of friendship.

Soon after the post gained many views online, internet users praised the parents for creating a healthy environment and a model for their child to watch and learn from. @Beas mentioned, "My son wrote on a school paper the answer to what is something your parents do a lot.... he wrote, 'laugh and smile at each other a lot.' The teacher called and told us no kid has ever put that. We were both in tears."

@Jake Rogers noted, "That's really cute, if a child's vocabulary is limited at that age. So, how I interpret him saying 'Is that your true friendship?' is him asking, 'Is that your best friend?'" @HeyItsMeAgain recounted, "When my youngest was not quite 3, she said, 'Daddy, you make my mama so happy she smiles like the sun!' And all these years later, he still does… It’s far and away the best gift you can give your children!"
