Ring camera captures delivery man’s kind gesture with a child’s Christmas gift: ‘Not all delivery drivers are bad…’
Sometimes, the smallest actions leave the biggest impressions. During the busy holiday season, one everyday moment stood out and quickly touched hearts online. A delivery stop in a quiet neighborhood turned into something much more meaningful, all because someone chose to pause and think. A mom, Roxy (@rl090924), shared a short video on TikTok that showed a delivery worker making a thoughtful choice that protected her child’s excitement. The clip quickly drew attention for its warmth and timing. Viewers could sense something special unfolding, even before knowing exactly what the driver had done.
The full story becomes clear in the Ring doorbell footage filmed in Wenatchee, Washington. The delivery driver arrived carrying a large package that clearly showed what was inside. Understanding it was meant as a Christmas gift, he chose to keep it out of view and not place it on the porch. He then knocked on the door and carefully moved the box out of view. When the homeowner’s young daughter began peeking through the window, the driver waved to distract her while keeping the surprise hidden. “I was surprised because I didn’t expect the box to arrive that day, but I was very touched that this gentleman took his time to wait until I got to the door—especially when he heard my daughter," Roxy shared with Newsweek. The driver waited until Roxy answered so she could safely hide the gift.
She said she felt moved to post it after seeing negative stories online about delivery partners. “I have been seeing so many negative things on social media about delivery drivers, and I wanted to share that not all delivery drivers are bad,” she said. In her caption, she thanked the driver for understanding the moment, writing that his “small act” had a “big impact” and saved the Christmas surprise. "Big shoutout to this UPS driver who truly understood the assignment. Thank you for going above and beyond." Many viewers echoed her feelings in the comments, praising the driver’s awareness and kindness.
@rachie_rach88 wrote, "That's a dad right there. That was so nice." @sarahhutch__ commented, "He heard the little voices and immediately stepped over to hide it. What a kind thing to do when he didn’t even have to!" @allisonecarr_ exclaimed, "The way he moved it after he heard your little girl’s voice. That’s a good man." While @katie_bug_25 shared, "I saw a female UPS driver showing how she has black plastic wrap to cover things like this. I hope this man and her always have a cool side of the pillow and all red lights turn green as soon as they reach them."
Some delivery agents go beyond what is required of them. In another similar story, that simple effort was enough to bring a smile to someone’s face. A woman, Autumn Meadows, shared how a Walmart driver sent a surprise poem instead of a routine update. "I'm on the way now to deliver your goods, just a drive across the river, and then through the woods," he wrote. On a hard day, his lines about delivery and kindness lifted her mood, prompting a joyful reply poem and a well-earned five-star review.
@rl090924 RAVE!! I’ve seen more bad things shared about UPS than good ones, so I wanted to share a good one. Big shoutout to this UPS driver who truly understood the assignment 😂 Instead of leaving my daughter’s Christmas gift on the porch—or letting her see it when she peeked out the window (which is why he waved 😄)—he took the time to knock on my door and waited so I could hide it. Small act, big impact. Christmas magic officially saved. Thank you for going above and beyond 🎁🎄#UPS #Christmas #christmasmagic #SmallActBigImpact #driverappreciation @UPS ♬ original sound - Roxy
