Uber driver was stunned by ‘leave at door’ instructions for $10K tennis bracelet — he instead had a very different plan for the five-figure package
Many delivery drivers are tasked with dropping off some of the prized possessions for certain customers. For one Uber driver, who goes by u/No-Name9851, what seemed to be a regular stack of deliveries turned out to be an experience of a kind. In his post shared on Thursday, October 22, 2026, he revealed that he was shocked to learn he would be delivering a tennis bracelet worth $10,000. What left him even more stunned was the fact that the instruction for it was just “leave at door.” Instead of doing that, he took a different approach.
The man revealed he had one order from a restaurant, whereas the other was something rare. He had to drop off a 5-figure piece of jewelry. It was a first for him, the jewelers, and several others. They packed it up, sealed it carefully, before handing it over. The driver understood he was now responsible for something special and expensive. When he reached the customer, he realized the instructions were to simply leave it outside. “Yeah... not happening,” he said. He took responsibility, called the company, retrieved the customer’s number, and called them. After he told them he was uncomfortable leaving a 5-figure item lying that way, they gave him a gate code to enter. He drove in, went to their doorstep, and handed the package personally to the man. He even got a picture of the man with the item as proof of delivery and left.
He later delivered the food package, which belonged to the next customer. “One customer was getting lunch, the other was getting jewelry worth more than most used cars,” he joked. The driver later added that everything worked out perfectly. While both customers got what they asked for, he got one of the “strangest delivery stories” to tell. Dropping off orders might seem a trivial job, but there’s a lot more that goes into every interaction. Each driver is assigned a task to satisfy customers. Just like this worker, another driver exercised kindness while handing over pizza.
When he reached the customer’s house, he noticed the mom was holding her sleeping baby as she answered the door. He instantly started whispering to avoid waking the baby up. He became extra careful with the order because he knew the mom was trying to balance her baby in one hand and the pizza in the other. He patiently waited for her to hold the box and even stepped closer to the door to help maneuver things better. When she got the parcel, he decided to close the door for her so she wouldn’t be uncomfortable or have to hurry with the order. The mom was impressed and touched. She mentioned how the man deserved a raise and was likely a dad himself to notice and act so compassionately.
