Woman boarded a flight with her dog safely secured in a kennel — one unexpected sight in the row ahead got them kicked off the plane
Traveling by air with a pet requires owners to be prepared for situations that may not go as planned. A trip that started as a normal journey from Minneapolis to San Francisco took an unexpected turn for content creator Cindy Capeluto Allie and her dog Loki. The dog had already traveled by plane many times without causing trouble, and he was safely inside his kennel when the pair boarded. But once they settled into their seats, one passenger nearby triggered a reaction that changed their travel plans. Allie later shared the experience in an Instagram post on September 13, 2026, under her handle @cindy_c_allie.
The problem started when Allie noticed a cat sitting in a carrier in the row ahead of them. Loki reacted strongly after seeing the animal and managed to break through his dog kennel. With the kennel damaged and Loki unable to stay contained, the content creator was asked to leave the plane. Allie explained that a flight attendant noticed the dog sitting on her lap while walking through the cabin and politely told her they could not continue the flight that way. She described the experience as the first time in 60 years that she had been asked to get off a plane. For a traveler with a pet, keeping the animal secure can become a major part of managing an unexpected situation.

After leaving the aircraft, Allie and Loki had to quickly find another way to continue their trip. They bought a new carrier that could safely contain the dog before returning to the airport. "We Ubered to PetSmart. We got a brand-new carrier," she said while describing how they handled the problem. The pair were then placed on a later flight to San Francisco. Allie remained lighthearted while explaining what had happened, even though the situation had forced her to leave the original flight.

While traveling with pets can be tricky, not every experience ends on a bad note. In another incident, a passenger named Chantal Rochelle, traveling with her small dog, faced an awkward situation when the woman seated beside her bluntly said that she did not want to sit near the pet. The traveler asked the flight attendant if she could be moved and appeared determined to get a different seat. The crew member then came up with a different solution, and instead of moving the passenger who objected to the dog, she upgraded the woman traveling with her pet to first class.

The crew member's gesture left her delighted, while the other passenger was clearly surprised by the decision. “The look on her face belonged in a museum,” Rochelle recalled. The upgrade also meant she and her dog could enjoy the rest of the journey comfortably. She later praised the crew member for handling an uncomfortable situation in a way that turned it into a positive experience.
