Woman breaks up with boyfriend after he lost her dog of 12 years and told her to 'get over it'
When two people are in a relationship, they must respect each other’s priorities and likes. Things that are close to a partner’s heart must be acknowledged and given importance to a certain extent. A woman who goes by u/anamariia5 revealed that her boyfriend had crossed limits after he lost her beloved dog. However, that was not all, the man made a mistake and refused to take up proper onus or express sorrow for the loss. Hurt by the carelessness, the pet owner decided to take action. The couple had been together for 4 years and despite similar things happening, the woman always chose to ignore it for the best.
After 1 year of being in a relationship, the man was introduced to her dog and mom who were her only family. “We grew up together and it's really hard for her to get to trust other people. She has always been an anxious girl but she is the light of my life and was always by my side even in my worst days,” the woman said of her beloved pet. Her partner, however, had been ignorant about the profound relationship the woman had with her pet. “He did not acknowledge Milo in any way. I did not expect him to be all over her, considering she does not like that but I still found it pretty strange because he said he absolutely loved dogs,” she wrote.
The canine got along with the man and over time warmed up to him. Unfortunately, when the dog got sick, the woman chose to spend time with her pet over her partner so she could look after her. “One thing that stood out to me was the fact that he seemed pretty pissed every time I brought her up, talking about her progress. Looking back, that should have raised some red flags but I guess I brushed it off,” she recalled. Soon, when the woman planned a trip with her mum, her boyfriend offered to look after the dog. “The trip was supposed to last 3 days. On day 2, I was talking with my boyfriend on the phone and he casually said that Milo likes to stay outside,” she recounted.
Confused about what it meant, the man clarified that he had left the dog outside for hours by herself and only checked on her on an hourly basis. The woman immediately got back and “blocked my boyfriend on everything.” She tirelessly looked for her pet, printed posters and did all she could but in vain. She chose to break up with her boyfriend over his ignorance and lack of concern for the canine who meant so much to the woman. In an update, the woman revealed that her now-former partner made even more ruthless remarks. “When he saw me cry, he told me I should get over it because she was already old but if I wanted her back, I should get back with him and when he trusted me that I forgave him, I could see her again,” she wrote.
Angered by his manipulation, she immediately asked him to leave. To her luck, she was informed about her dog lying in a nearby area. The woman immediately got her pet back and took her to the vet. “She has 2 broken ribs and is dehydrated. If everything goes well, she will be home soon,” the woman added. u/veelvetyheart said, “Your boyfriend's negligence led to your dog's disappearance.
