90-year-old widow was dreading $2K a day fines for backyard trash. Strangers stepped in to turn her fear into relief

To see the community step up and fight against injustice is a rewarding experience. What’s more impressive is how every person’s little turns into a generous lot, thus making a life-changing difference. A 90-year-old widow named Agnes Maples was left helpless when she was to face $2,500 fines per day for having an unusual amount of garbage dumped in her yard, The 700 Club by CBN reported. Despite not being the one who dumped the trash, the woman was stuck in worry when she was warned to get rid of it. The community took note of her need and arrived just in time to save her home and help her out.

Maples noted that her relatives had used her yard as a dumping ground and had loads of trash thrown there, The Christian Broadcasting Network revealed. When the neighbors complained about the trash, the elderly woman was forced to take action quickly. Failure to clear up would lead to a hefty fine of $2,500 on a daily basis. Unfortunately, her relatives didn’t seem to be of help and she was left on her own. “I tried to get him to get it out. It was terrible. All kinds of garbage,” she recalled. Being 90 years old, she was unable to get the dump out by herself. Moreover, her home conditions were also deteriorating.

My roof had gotten bad and animals were getting in. I didn’t know what to do. I wasn’t able to do it and I knew I couldn’t do it,” she remarked. Even living in her own home became a struggle and an inconvenience. With bleak hopes, she contacted a charity called “Operation Blessing” and requested any help if possible. As soon as the organization learned of her problems, they immediately stepped in to help. “They’re angels. They came in and cleaned out all the stuff, tore the shed down and tore the trailer down and took everything out,” the 90-year-old gratefully remarked.

When they learned of the conditions the elderly woman was living in, they added to their generosity by fixing her home. Little by little, strangers put in their efforts to make a difference. The charity also contacted volunteers from Regent University and together recreated the pathway, added flowerbeds and did as many repairs as required so Maples wouldn’t face trouble. “They started working and they sure did a good job. They’re all my little angels. And I will never forget them. I love them,” the elderly woman exclaimed.
To think about it, these total strangers stepped up and saved the day right when Maples needed it. She was helpless, worried and vulnerable, and they became her support. The woman also shared how they asked her if she required anything else from them. The 90-year-old humbly told them that her air conditioning had broken and the good Samaritans surprised her with a new one soon! Their kindness felt like God-sent help. “God bless them and they’re wonderful. And I love them all. I’ve been blessed and blessed and God has never left me. He’s still with me,” she remarked.
