Pet parent was puzzled by ‘panicked’ cat scratching door furiously at night. She had no idea it would save their lives

Pet parents can understand most of what their pets are trying to convey. Sometimes, it can be difficult to decipher their actions, especially if they seem unusual or different and in such moments, all we need is to trust them. A woman named Alana Falk (@crazy_falking_life) shared how her cat, Trident, started acting unusually one night, Newsweek reported. Apart from the regular behavior, the feline was repeatedly persisting in scratching their bedroom door. Unable to understand what he wanted, they gave in to his instincts and checked things out. They were baffled to realize that Trident had just saved them from disaster.

Falk mentioned that she is usually aware of her cat’s behavior during the night. Her husband, who is a firefighter, insists on keeping doors closed during the night and keeps their pets outside their room. Trident sometimes asks for another pet or other wants and his pet parents know what gestures he makes. However, one night, they were confused when he kept scratching their door. "He was meowing and scratching at the door incessantly," Falk recalled. The feline refused to let them sleep. The way the cat acted, the woman could tell that he was “panicked” and immediately knew something was wrong.

As the duo opened their door, the anxious and impulsive feline fell into the room. He wasted no time and directed the couple to the kitchen. They were shocked to see that there was something wrong with their dishwasher. Falk got a burning smell like a chemical and soon knew there was a problem. When they checked out the dishwasher, they realized that a piece had fallen onto the heating part and was melting. They arrived just in time to take control of things. "Many people, including my husband, say he didn't 'save' us and that at the most he saved the dishwasher from being destroyed," Falk remarked.

However, she was convinced that the feline had done his part exceptionally well, as she also had other pets and the fumes were dangerous. Though a small attempt, his actions did render significant help and avert disaster. "I still say he saved us and the other cats and our dog because the fumes were so strong as soon as I opened the bedroom door." To appreciate her feline, the woman made an interesting picture of Trident standing against a background of flames and placed it on her mantel. The text on it reads, “Not all heroes wear capes.” Many people commented, praising Trident and also sharing stories of how their pets helped.
