Preschoolers playing T-ball had mics setup to capture conversations — their remarks has the internet caught off guard
Watching a T-ball match is exciting but watching determined toddlers playing the game pushes one's excitement and intrigue to a whole new level. The Yard Training (@theyardtraining) probably didn’t think the preschoolers had it in them to be so focused and informed about their game. However, when the 4 to 6-year-olds were mic’d up during a T-ball match, their expressions left the internet awestruck. While the game was meant to be one of fun and entertainment, the kids put their hearts into it…and certainly didn’t forget to voice it out too. The glimpses of their shots, aims, planning and even mishaps are just the cutest.
Phil Roberts, Executive Director of The Yard Training, revealed, “This fall, we started a six-on-six Indoor Tee Ball League. By having a smaller number of players on each team, players see more action, get more training and have more fun,” per TODAY. Their Marketing Director, Janie Henderson, came up with the creative idea to put microphones on the little athletes and get an idea of what goes on in their minds throughout the game. “Since they [the kids] really don’t have any history of being ‘mic’d up,’ their responses and interactions were perfectly genuine,” Roberts noted.
The video captures the tiny tots all geared up in their jerseys, helmets and gloves, giving it their best with a blend of support, sportsmanship, anger, joy and everything in between. One of the kids noticed his opponent hitting and said, “How do you hit it so hard? That’s a great hit...for you.” Another glimpse captures a failed high-five adorably rectified. “Hi-five. Ouch, do not hit me like that,” the boy said, before attempting that gesture again. The tiny athlete was also captured sweetly explaining, “It goes all the first [sic], you run all the bases, until you get to home. That’s what happens when you get a home run.”
Along with the dialogues, all the falls, thuds, “ughs,” claps and everything was caught on the mic and it was beyond thrilling. An endearing exchange between two players was about their hitting game. “How can you hit like that?” he asked. “'Cause I’m four,” the opponent said, “I’m four too!” the first replied. Along with the game, it was also a priceless dose of humor, delight and impressive communication from the preschoolers. Roberts is assured the kids had a blast. “The content was priceless and it created a vibe for our league that quickly became contagious.” Reposted on the outlet’s channel, people were in awe of the baby voice, leaving some very mature comments.
Henderson also commented, loving her idea and said, “This was so much fun to film and edit!! We love our Tee Ballers and their sweet families at the Yard Training.” @teejayemm719 said, “I’ve been a kindergarten teacher for 19 years. I can 100% confirm the accuracy of their chatter.” @lauraharrisonnbc5 added, “Tball mic’d up hits different.” @metsbabe78 remarked, “‘That's a great hit for you’ is my favorite." @sarahd022 wrote, “My new favorite show.” @brits_isin_thepit remarked, “Ugh! My favorite age group.”
