Freshman hesitated to accept coffee from man who spoke little English after hit-and-run left her stranded — one sip felt like a ‘sign from God’
A car accident can leave someone shaken, especially when the other driver flees the scene and help has yet to arrive. For one college student, a cold February afternoon became an experience she would remember for years. Writer and content creator Blythe Landon was in her freshman year of college when another vehicle struck her car during a turn at an intersection. With her vehicle badly damaged and the other driver gone, she was left waiting for the police in freezing weather. She shared the story in an Instagram video posted on September 26, 2026, under the handle @sincerely_blythe, recalling how an unexpected act of kindness helped her through the frightening ordeal.
The accident happened as Landon turned left on a green arrow, and the other car hit the front passenger side of her Honda Accord before driving away. A police officer had witnessed the crash and immediately followed the fleeing driver, leaving Landon waiting for another officer to arrive. Soon, a stranger pulled over and offered to stay and give a witness statement. Since it was bitterly cold, he invited her to sit in his car while they waited. As she called her parents, Landon became overwhelmed by the damage and began crying. The man then offered her his caramel latte, asking, "Do you want my coffee?" The writer hesitated at first, but when she finally took a sip, she discovered it was her favorite drink. She felt the moment was a "sign from God", as if comfort had arrived when she needed it most.

Landon explained that she knew the importance of being careful around strangers, but the man had made her feel safe by offering to wait with her and serve as a witness. He spoke only a little English, yet his effort to comfort her came through clearly. He even reassured her that he had not done anything to the drink when she initially declined it. Looking back, Landon connected the experience to her faith and the way she understood God's care. She described the latte as one of the best Valentine's gifts she had received, even though it had come from someone she had never met before.

Just when we begin to lose hope, God reminds us that we are not alone. In another story, a grieving mother had been struggling with the loss of her son and facing difficult milestones without him. During a lunch break, she went for a walk and prayed, asking God for reassurance that her prayers were being heard. What she noticed shortly afterward gave the ordinary walk a meaning she had not expected.

Near a pond, she spotted a small tag caught among the reeds. One word printed on it grabbed her attention: "Anaya." Curious, she searched for its meaning and found that it meant "God has answered." The discovery felt deeply personal because it came just after she had asked for "some progress, some forward motion, some reassurance." Although the grief remained, the message gave her a moment of comfort and hope.
