Protective dog thought kids were drowning and jumped into action—but the real story had a twist
Dogs tend to be protective around their owners and sometimes even more so around children. Their loyalty surpasses understanding and many furry pals would jump in to rescue their owner in trouble without a second thought. A dog named Tinker quite literally jumped into action when she thought her pet parent’s nephews were drowning, Newsweek reported. Amanda Morgan, Tinker’s owner, was stunned to see the canine do the unthinkable. What started as a casual walk to the lake turned into something unbelievable and it’s a treat.
The woman mentioned that her canine is sweet and has a soft spot for children. She has a page on TikTok (@tinker_is_judging_you), dedicated to the shenanigans and everyday life experiences of her dog. The videos capture everything from Tinker being excited to be involved, being upset, throwing tantrums and even being a jolly, sometimes silly self. "Tinker doesn't like everyone; she's scared of a lot of people and dogs, but she will do anything for people she loves. She's a very special dog,” her pet owner remarked.
Morgan mentioned how their visit to the lake is a regular one. However, the canine gets especially protective of the kids when they’re near the water. "She tries to haul them out of the water, so I actually had to stop bringing her to the lake with them because she panics when they're in the water," Morgan recalled. Recalling one of the instances that took the woman by surprise, Morgan noted how Tinker got unusually uncomfortable about the kids being in the lake. She kept trying to caution Morgan despite being assured that the kids were just having a good time.

After a certain point, Tinker decided to take matters into her own hands and without bothering about herself, started hinting that the kids might be in danger. "She pulled me over to the pool and kept slamming her head into the iron fence. I had to physically pull her away so she wouldn't hurt herself,” the woman recalled. The dog insisted that the kids were in trouble. One of the parents, too, got worried about Tinker’s concern and rushed to the lake to check on the kids. Despite every assurance, the canine decided to put herself out there and save them on her own. She jumped into the water to rescue the kids.
In her video, Morgan noted that there were two serious problems with Tinker’s actions — the kids were not drowning, and Tinker didn’t know how to swim. Turns out, the kids were just splashing water around, which prompted Tinker to get overly protective and go out of her way to save them, though she couldn’t swim. While some viewed the event as a hilarious one, others applauded the canine for being vigilant and having unconditional and selfless love for her people.
