Woman wanted to record her mom’s reaction to her newborn—what she captured instead left the internet awestruck
To see your child become a parent is a joy that has no comparison. Earning the title of a grandparent feels like an accomplishment to many. A woman named Anna was delighted to record her mother’s reaction when she had just delivered her baby. The new mom welcomed a baby boy. As she and her newborn were in the hospital room, the woman pulled out her phone before her mom could enter her room and meet her baby for the first time. To her surprise, the grandmother had a totally opposite reaction that was luckily caught on camera and it has the internet in a chokehold.
The woman explained that her son was her mother’s first grandchild. Undoubtedly, the fact made it even more special. Her Instagram captured several posts of her baby boy. One of the videos shows the grandma cherishing each moment with her grandson, creating memories and soaking in grandparenthood. As the grandma entered the hospital room, she spotted Anna and her baby lying in the bassinet and let out an excited smile. However, before she could walk to the child, she did something heart-melting. “My mom walked right past the bassinet and came straight to me — her first baby,” Anna remarked.
“You did so well,” the mom said to Anna. She continued to hold her daughter and check on her, asking her whether she was in pain and if everything was alright with her. She even let her know that she might have cramps or other symptoms that come soon after delivery. “You will start feeling better soon,” she added. While Anna was excited to see how her mother would react towards her newborn, she was moved to see her check on her first. It instantly gave her comfort and assured her that she had someone looking out for her too.
“Before she even laid eyes on her grandson, she made sure to check on me. In that moment, I realized so deeply — no matter how old I get, she will always be my mom first,” the woman wrote in her caption. A simple glimpse and realization helped Anna understand that the duty of being a parent for a lifetime comes first. “It wasn’t until I became a mom myself that I understood how much I still need my own mom,” she remarked. As she embraced the role of a mother, she was struck by the idea of how loving and powerful her own mom was.
“Watching her love my son is beautiful, but the way she’s loved me and cared for me while I step into motherhood has touched me in ways I never expected,” she said. That priority that Anna received is something that touched many moms. @hancorrui said, “One day, I hope I’ll do this for a daughter or daughter-in-law. I am so happy you have a beautiful relationship with your mother like this.” @thesparrows added, “Your mom is so sweet.
