Woman was heartbroken after putting her dog down—a month later, she found an unbelievable gift from him

Dogs might turn into a person's best friend or family member during their time together. So it can be incredibly difficult to part with your beloved pet. A woman, April Brown, had to make the difficult decision to put her French bulldog, Shadow, down. It was a challenging moment for the woman and it left her devastated. However, Brown was in for a surprise when she noticed that her "favorite guy" had left a special gift for her and an indelible mark on her life, per an Instagram video, where she goes by @slaughterhousehair. The clip received over 4.1 million views.

"I think my dog is pregnant by my dog, whom I had to put to sleep a month ago. I said no more puppies last year, but I guess he wanted to leave his mark forever," the text overlay of the video read. Brown was surprised to see that her dog was pregnant and she had no idea when that happened. "I bet one will look just like him," the woman remarked. She worked as a dog breeder up until last year, so she could understand the signs of pregnancy. But Brown had gotten rid of all her litter stuff because she felt that she was done with that work. "Shadow, this wasn't the plan, dude," Brown wrote.

"I’m like she is looking really wide all of a sudden and lo and behold, I think we are having puppies. I’m always on top of things like this because I do breed and after the last litter in August 2024 and the loss of my favorite guy, I said no more," the caption explained. "I guess there are other plans in store. My sweet Shadow has 17 babies out in the world, so I guess his little legacy continues." In another video, Brown took her dog to the veterinary hospital to get her checked and see if she was actually pregnant. "I love it. I love every last bit of it." She eventually found out that her dog was actually pregnant and was between 38 and 40 days around mid-March this year. The woman shared that the puppies might be born around her birthday on April 6th.

"It looks like I'll have the puppies as my birthday gift," Brown expressed. "I am so excited for the opportunity to be the grandmother to my grandpups and that my beautiful baby Shadow would live on." She added, "I am just so excited. I am excited, happy and nervous. But God is good." The caption pointed out, "One thing my dogs do is keep me busy and this year I pray for puppies as a birthday gift." People congratulated the woman for receiving the precious gift in the comments section of the video.

@prettyincredible11 wrote, "I hope one comes out looking and acting just like Shadow, so you can have a second wind of his presence." @brad.canelo commented, "I'm happy for you guys. I hope she has a healthy litter of pups and that everything turns out well for her." @savagejuice remarked, "You lost one and got blessed with more, that's how life works. I hope she has the same one that you lost earlier, even though he was one of a kind." In yet another video on April 13, Brown shared clips of the litter of seven puppies that had been born. One female puppy turned out "just like her dad."
